Short-Term Rentals (STR) in unincorporated Solano County

Short-term rentals are considered an accessory use of residential property for the purpose of providing transient lodging for compensation for periods of 30 consecutive days or less.

Short-term rentals in the unincorporated area of Solano County include agricultural homestays, bed and breakfast inns, hosted rentals and vacation house rentals (VHRs).

If you plan to offer your property as a short-term rental, you must apply for the appropriate permit before you list the rental on website hosting platforms such as Airbnb or VRBO. This is just one of the short-term rental rules required by local law.  In addition, short-term rentals require the issuance of a Business License, Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Registration, and proof of commercial insurance.
