January – Physical Fitness
Turn off the TV and go outside to play!
Toddlers and preschoolers should play actively several times a day. Too much screen time and not enough physical activity increases your child’s risk of becoming obese. Toddlers should get 60 minutes of active play a day and preschoolers should get 120 minutes. To help your kids stay active set a regular schedule such as going to the park after lunch or for a walk after dinner. You can also play a variety of indoor games such as follow the leader, hind and seek, and red light-green light. The key is to be involved and keep it fun so they will want to play more!
