Solano County Forming Medical Reserve Corps

February 10, 2012

Solano County is forming a Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).  The Solano Healthcare Emergency Auxiliary Response Team (Solano HEART) is looking for medical and non-medical volunteers who are interested in assisting Solano Public Health and the general public during a disaster or catastrophic event.

Solano HEART is a community operated project that will function to locally recruit, train, and deploy volunteers.  When a public health emergency occurs, the need for volunteers may be tremendous.  HEART volunteers will be used to supplement existing emergency services when a disaster is of a magnitude that exceeds existing resources.  Volunteer skills and expertise will also be utilized in preventive community programs throughout the year.

Who can volunteer?

Solano HEART is seeking volunteer medical professionals, such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, and epidemiologists.  Community members such as interpreters, chaplains, office workers, legal advisors, and others are also being sought as they can fill vital roles during an emergency.

How do I join?

An application to become a member of Solano HEART can be found in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) forms section of the Solano County EMS web page at
