May 11, 2010

County officials announced today (May 11) the selection of Ted Selby as the new Emergency Medical Service administrator.  He will assume the duties on May 17.

Selby is the current manager of the County's Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Communicable Disease Control programs. He came to Solano County in December 2007, after serving in the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services where he managed the state’s emergency management systems.

"Ted is an outstanding manager who was a leader in the local and regional H1N1 Pandemic response and has established highly successful partnerships with a wide variety of community organizations," said County Health Officer Dr. Ron Chapman.

As the EMS administrator, his responsibilities will include managing the ambulance response capability for all Solano communities except Vacaville, coordinating the medical certification of emergency response personnel, and working with the County Public Health Officer to develop and implement the medical components of disaster preparedness
