Solano County Family Justice Center to host second annual Elder Abuse Forum

SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County District Attorney's Office, Family Justice Center in partnership with the Senior Coalition of Solano County invite the public to stand up against elder abuse by attending the second annual Elder Abuse Forum on Thursday, June 15 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Joseph Nelson Community Center, located at 611 Village Drive in Suisun City.

In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEEAD), this year's theme is "Understand and end financial abuse of older people – a human rights issue."  Topics of discussion at the forum include the definition of financial abuse, investigating financial abuse and fraud, an overview of real estate fraud, offender accountability, conservatorships and how to find a good caregiver.

“We invite you to participate in this opportunity to take action and help protect seniors by raising awareness and learning more about elder abuse in Solano County,” says District Attorney Krishna Abrams.  “Together, we can all make a difference.”

The Solano County District Attorney’s Office and their Investigation Unit, in cooperation with the Family Justice Center, Solano County Superior Court and Area Agency on Aging will be the featured guest speakers.  Agency vendors and representatives will also be available to provide guests with informational hand-outs, answer questions and provide recommendations for services and assistance offered in Solano County for adults of all ages.
