Family members and friends. Children and the elderly, rich and poor. Mental illness can affect anyone - no matter what age, sex, gender or ethnic background.
Mental illnesses are not the result of personal weakness, lack of character or poor upbringing. Mental illnesses are treatable. Most people diagnosed with a serious mental illness can experience relief from their symptoms by getting help and by learning ways to better manage their illness.
Led by Mental Health Director, Sandra Sinz, Solano County Mental Health assists over 4,000 children, youth and adults each year who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis or who have significant mental and emotional disabilities. Services include: crisis and brief therapy, case management, psychiatric assessments and medication, outpatient treatment, and a range of community support services, including a client-run Self-Help Center.
