County to dedicate new Winters Bridge road

May 3, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – The public is invited to celebrate the dedication of the new Winters Road Bridge at a formal event this Friday, May 6 at 3 p.m. at the Winters Community Center, 201 Railroad Ave., in Winters, hosted by Solano County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Erin Hannigan.

Opened to traffic in December 2015, the new Winters Road Bridge is a collaborative effort between Solano County and the City of Winters.  The $12.2 million dollar infrastructure improvement project replaces a historic concrete arch bridge that has deteriorated over time.  Originally completed in 1908, the brand new 475-foot-long, five-span concrete bridge borrows a few design characteristics from the historic bridge, most notably its concrete arches.

The new Winters Road Bridge also boasts improved pedestrian access and lighting, as well as two belvederes for enhanced viewing of Putah Creek, which has benefitted recently from $7 million in improvements to the creek bed.

The ceremony will also include presentations from City of Winters Mayor Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Solano County District 4 Supervisor John M. Vasquez, state Sen. Lois Wolk, Assemblymember Bill Dodd, Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor and representatives from Caltrans.

Refreshments and music are provided by the City of Winters.

No need to RSVP, simply show up.  For more information contact Ryan Chalk, District Representative for District 4 Supervisor John M. Vasquez at [email protected] and (707) 784-6128.
