Board of Supervisors to honor 47 centenarians

SOLANO COUNTY – On Tuesday, October 26, starting at 10 a.m., the Solano County Board of Supervisors will consider adopting a resolution to honor and recognize some of Solano County’s oldest living residents.  This year, 47 centenarians will be celebrated as part of the fifteenth annual commemoration.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Board will honor centenarians through a video presentation, including a gift bag containing a custom commemorative yearbook and resolutions signed by the Board and local and state elected representatives.  The bags will be delivered a few days after the ceremony. 

To date the Board has honored more than 225 centenarians in Solano County, the oldest of them, Reta Wills, reached super-centenarian status in 2021.  Super-centenarians are those individuals that who have reached the age of 110 years or older, which only occurs at a rate of about 1 in 7 million people – with an estimated 60-70 super-centenarians currently living in the United States.
