Solano Public Health to host town hall-style meeting to discuss COVID-19 vaccine rollout and distribution

SOLANO COUNTY –– Everyone is invited to join Solano County Public Health this Friday, January 22, 2021 starting at 3:30 p.m. via the Solano County Public Health Facebook page for a live town-hall style community meeting to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and distribution in Solano County.

The live town-hall style community meeting, moderated by District 1 Supervisor Erin Hannigan, will feature keynote speakers including Ted Selby, Health Services Administrator, Christine Wu, M.D., Deputy Health Officer and Communicable Disease Chief, and Jose Caballero, Senior Health Education Specialist.  The speakers will address a variety of topics relating to the COVID-19 vaccine, including:

Vaccine rollout and distribution in Solano County
n  When will it be my turn to get the vaccine?
n  Who is eligible to receive their vaccine now?
n  Where can I receive the vaccine?
n  What is the vaccine availability / number of doses administered?

Vaccine efficacy, health and safety considerations
n  History and development of the COVID-19 vaccine(s)
n  mRNA technology and vaccine efficacy
n  Known potential risks and benefits of receiving the vaccine
n  Potential side effects and what to look out for
n  Addressing vaccine hesitation
n  Ways to continue to slow the surge in new cases

Staying informed during the vaccine rollout and distribution
n  Putting health equity at the forefront, making sure residents are informed
n  As more vaccine becomes available, conducting targeted public outreach
n  Working with community organizations to help facilitate information

Everyone interested in viewing, listening and/or participating in the town-hall style community meeting should visit the Solano County Public Health Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/SolanoCountyPH  starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.  A Facebook Live link will appear for everyone to join.  Community members can submit questions via the Facebook Live chat feature during the meeting.  The Q&A portion of the town-hall meeting will be moderated by Supervisor Hannigan and answered by the presenters.

Can’t make the live town-hall style community meeting, that’s OK, the full meeting will be available for viewing on the Solano County Public Health Facebook page at your convenience.  Individuals with questions after the meeting can post them to the community chat feature.  Public Health staff will try and answer questions in a timely manner.
