County offers free CPR training during national EMS week

May 23, 2017

SOLANO COUNTY – The Solano County Department of Health and Social Services, Emergency Medical Services agency is celebrating the 43rd Annual National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) week by offering free public CPR training this Thursday, May 25 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Solano County Events Center, located at 601 Texas Street in Fairfield.

"It doesn't matter how quickly EMS providers get to a scene – members of the public will always be there first," says Andrew Obando, Associate EMS Administrator for Solano County Health and Social Services.  “The prompt delivery of CPR more than doubles a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival by helping maintain vital blood flow to the heart and brain.  By increasing the number of trained individuals in our community, we increase the survival rate of cardiac victims.”

The County Board of Supervisors recognized the week of May 21-27, 2017 as National EMS Week in Solano County at their board meeting today.  The resolution recognizes and commends the emergency physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, and many others within Solano County who provide the vital public service of emergency care for their outstanding dedication to the services to the community.
