Last recruitment session of the year to become a paid caregiver to seniors and the disabled

September 22, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – The Department of Health and Social Services, In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Public Authority is looking for a few good men and women to become paid caregivers for seniors and the disabled here in Solano County.

The Public Authority uses a customized database to match the needs of Solano County IHSS clients with pre-qualified Registry Home Care Providers.  Currently there is a need for more caregivers, as the demand for services continues to grow.

"We are looking for passionate individuals interested in providing access to services for seniors and the disabled that sustain health and well-being in Solano County," said Teri Ruggiero, Solano County Health and Social Services Public Authority Administrator.  “We've hired a lot of highly qualified individuals so far – and the need still exists – so that’s why we’re hosting one final recruitment session this year.”

IHSS is looking for caregivers who have a high-degree of flexibility in their schedule, are willing to assist clients with bowel, bladder and skin care needs, are able to multi-task, have excellent communication skills and are motivated to work as an integral member of a client-centered health care team.  Individuals who are able to lift and transfer bed-bound individuals, perform paramedical services, cook for special diets and have specific medical or nursing related certifications are highly preferred.

Members of the Solano community who are interested in becoming a paid caregiver are encouraged to come to one of the recruitment sessions hosted by IHSS where they will learn all about the healthcare opportunity, including the ability to meet with current caregivers and staff.

The final recruitment session is open to any interested applicants:

- Tuesday, October 4 at 2101 Courage Dr., in Fairfield, Multipurpose Room – 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
