February 10, 2016

SOLANO COUNTY – The Department of Health and Social Services, In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Public Authority is looking for a few good men and women to become paid caregivers for seniors and the disabled here in Solano County.

The Public Authority uses a customized database to match the needs of Solano County IHSS clients with pre-qualified Registry Home Care Providers.  Currently there is a need for more caregivers, as the demand for services continues to grow.

IHSS is looking for caregivers who have a high-degree of flexibility in their schedule, are willing to assist clients with bowel, bladder and skin care needs, are able to multi-task, have excellent communication skills and are motivated to work as an integral member of a client-centered health care team.  They must also be able to lift 50 pounds, perform basic medical assessments, transfer bed-bound individuals, cook for special diets and have specific Medical Assistant certifications.

Members of the Solano community who are interested in becoming a paid caregiver are encouraged to come to one of the recruitment sessions hosted by IHSS where they will learn all about the healthcare opportunity, including the ability to meet with current caregivers and staff.
