Popular County plaza water feature remains operational, but with reduced hours of operation

June 19, 2015

SOLANO COUNTY – The County's popular water feature will remain operational during the summer, allowing for families and their children to play and cool off, but with reduced hours of operation, in response to the ongoing drought.

The Board of Supervisors suggested the County lead by example in response to the Governor’s executive order to redouble state drought actions by reducing the fountain’s hours of operations and discontinue the use of the reflective water pond feature on Union Ave.

The decision to keep the water feature operational is a popular one, as evident by the number of children and families that visit and play in the fountain on a daily basis.

"We have folks calling the Starbucks across the street to see if the fountains are working," says Perry Sauro, Facility Operations Manager for Solano County.  “We recognize the public’s enjoyment and are happy to keep the fountain operational for people to relax and stay cool.”

Located in front of the County Administration Center, 675 Texas St. in Fairfield, the water feature boasts new hours of operation, including Monday – Friday, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. and weekends from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Use of the County water feature is free to the public.
