Vote-by-mail ballots in mailboxes by next week

October 5, 2012

By early next week vote-by-mail ballots should be in the hands of people registered as permanent vote-by-mail voters.

The Registrar of Voters office has delivered nearly 104,000 vote-by-mail ballots to postal distribution centers in Oakland and San Francisco.

People registered to vote-by-mail who have not received their ballots by Friday, Oct. 12, should contact the Registrar of Voters office at 784-6675.

The Registrar said people who participated in a recent volunteer voter registration drive in the community or registered online should also be checking their mail for a Voter Notification Card from the elections office.

The Registrar of Voters mailed nearly 200,000 sample ballot booklets earlier this week and should be arriving in homes by this weekend.

Households will receive from the Secretary of State's office the state Voter Information Guide with information on statewide propositions.  The guide and information on the presidential candidates are available online at
http://www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov/.

Easy Voter Guides that contain a summary of all of the presidential candidates are available at the Registrar of Voters office at 675 Texas Street, Suite 2600, in Fairfield or at
http://www.easyvoter.org/.

The Registrar of Voters has also made many of the resources voters need for the election conveniently available on its website at
www.solanocounty.com/elections.  Voters can verify their voter registration, complete a vote-by-mail application, register to vote, request a vote by mail ballot, locate their polling place, and download additional sample ballots.

The last day to register for this election is Monday, Oct. 22. The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot to be mailed out to voters is Tuesday, Oct. 30.
