Governor orders closure of bars, brewpubs and some indoor operations in Solano County – County health officials update local orders, ask residents to stay at home during Fourth of July holiday weekend

SOLANO COUNTY – At his press briefing yesterday, Governor Newsom ordered the closure of bars, brewpubs, breweries and pubs, and all indoor operations at dine-in restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms, family entertainment centers, indoor movie theatres, indoor zoos, museums and cardrooms for at least three weeks in 19 California counties, including the County of Solano, that were on the state’s County Monitoring List.  The state order essentially rescinds the local public health officer’s delegated authority for these specific business operations at this time.

The Governor took this action in advance of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Solano County and across the state.  County health officials are encouraging all residents to stay at home as much as they can and not gather.

“Our COVID-19 numbers are not favorable, as you’ll see on the County and state websites, although these businesses don’t appear to be the primary source of transmission,” says Beta T. Matyas, M.D., M.P.H., Solano County Public Health Officer.  “While it may go against tradition, we are asking Solano County residents to stay at home this Fourth of July weekend.  Family and social gatherings remain one of the primary drivers in the spike of cases in Solano County.  The more we come together in groups and don’t social distance, the more COVID-19 spreads.  If you must go out, wear a face covering and practice 6-foot social distancing, for your own health and for the wellbeing of everyone in our community.”

Solano County Public Health encourages all residents to continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, California Department of Public Health and Solano County Public Health social distancing best practices, including wearing a cloth face mask outside your home whenever physical distancing cannot be maintained, maintaining a physical distance of six-feet from others, practicing coughing and sneezing etiquette, using a hand sanitizer or washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and to stay at home if you’re not feeling well.
