|General Voting By Mail Information|
Any registered voter may vote a Vote by Mail ballot. Voters may cast Vote by Mail ballots in person in the Elections office (address below) during the Vote by Mail voting period which begins twenty-nine days before an election and extends until the close of polls on election day. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office is open until 8:00 p.m. on election days.
Most Vote by Mail voters request and cast their ballots by mail. Vote by Mail ballot requests must be received seven days before election day by 5:00 p.m. to receive a ballot by mail. Voters may request a Vote by Mail ballot by any of the following three methods:
Completing the request form from the back of your sample ballot and mailing it back to us.
Send us a letter at the address listed on our Contact page. Your letter must have your name, residence address in Solano County, the address to which the ballot is to be mailed (if different than your residence) and your signature. You may also fax your request to 707-784-6678.
Use the convenient online application. Fill in the requested information and click the Submit button; your request will be sent to us electronically. Note that this application is for individual voters only.
State law prevents us from issuing Vote by Mail ballots based on a request over the phone. This prevents anyone requesting a Vote by Mail ballot in someone else's name. Therefore, you must request a Vote by Mail ballot in writing. We must receive your written request at least seven days before an election.
Permanent Vote by Mail Voting
Any California voter may request to become a permanent Vote by Mail voter. Permanent Vote by Mail voters are mailed an Vote by Mail ballot for each election in which he or she is eligible to vote. Permanent Vote by Mail voters remain on the permanent Vote by Mail list unless they fail to return a voted ballot in a Primary or General Election.
To become a permanent Vote by Mail voter, complete the Vote by Mail application on the back of your sample ballot. Be sure to check the box on the application indicating you wish to become a permanent Vote by Mail voter. You can also download the Permanent Vote by Mail Voter Application. Mail or fax the completed application to the Registrar of Voters.
