Tobacco Prevention & Education Program
The Tobacco Prevention and Education Program (TPEP) and the Solano County Tobacco Education Coalition (TEC) have been collaborating to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke in Solano since 1990.

The Tobacco Prevention and Education Program (TPEP) is Solano County's lead agency for tobacco prevention efforts funded by Proposition 99, the 1988 tobacco tax initiative.
TPEP Works to:
  • Reduce exposure to secondhand smoke by working with property owners to establish smokefree apartment units and by limiting smoking areas in parks
  • Combat the influence of tobacco industry advertising and promotions through a media project with high school students
  • Reduce sales of tobacco to children by working with cities to enact policies that license tobacco retailers 
  • Help community organizations that serve low-income clients, apply for tobacco control funding and implement tobacco prevention activities

  • TPEP staff provides support to the Solano County Tobacco Education Coalition (TEC)
  • Information and technical assistance on current tobacco issues, policies and legislation, health effects and community campaigns (mobilization for norm change)
