Frank Smith

Sergeant Frank Smith first joined the Solano County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 as Deputy Sheriff, where he worked a variety of assignments, including patrol, investigations, and Field Training Officer. He also serves as an Assistant Team Leader on the Sheriff’s Office Mobile Field Force Team.  He has worked through numerous disasters and emergencies involving civil unrest and wildfires, including the LNU Lightning Complex fire in 2020.  Sergeant Smith has over twenty-five years of law enforcement experience. 

In 2020, Frank was promoted to Sergeant, where he oversaw a patrol shift and served as supervisor for the agency's Field Training Program.  Sergeant Smith began his assignment in OES in December 2023 and will serve as the coordinator for the county-wide Terrorism Liaison Program and Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Program.  Additionally, he will coordinate numerous paid and volunteer teams, including Search and Rescue, Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s, Dive Team, and the Sheriff’s Posse.

Sergeant Smith is a Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute graduate and a subject matter expert (Field Training Program) for California’s Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training
