Child Support Workshops
The Solano County DCSS would like to invite you to join us for our in-house workshops.  The workshops are FREE and there are four different topics to choose from.  The workshops last approximately 1 1/2 hours, which includes a 45 minute presentation, and a 45 minute question and answer session as needed.  Please plan on arriving 15 minutes early to allow for parking and registration in our main lobby.  Participants will be escorted to the workshop meeting room.  Please note there are no restroom facilities in the meeting room, however a restroom is available in our main lobby.

Compromise of Arrears (COAP) Do you qualify for a reduction of your state owed child support debt?  This workshop will explain the COAP program, whether you qualify, how to obtain and complete an application, and what to expect during the process.  Staff will be available to assist you with the application after the presentation.	5/9/12	11:00 a.m.
Case Opening/Understanding Child Support An introductory workshop to the child support process.  Includes information on how to open a case, establish a court order for paternity, medical support and/or child support, and basic enforcement principles.	5/24/12	11:00 a.m.

Review and Adjustment Are you paying too much or receiving too little in child support? This workshop explains the process of modifying a court order for child support; including who can request one, how to request one, and what to expect during the modification process.	6/28/12	11:00 a.m.

Outreach Informs Prisoners About Child Support
Solano DCSS continues its program to educte and assist inmates at the California State Prison - Solano on how they can request a modification of their child support order while incarcerated. Through collaboration with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, in 2009, child support staff met with more than 200 inmates monthly at the prison to address their change in circumstances early on, thereby reducing obstacles to a successful re-entry after release from prison.
