July 4 Moooonlight and Fireworks Hike at Lynch Canyon Departments - Resource Management - Parks
Location: Lynch Canyon Open Space Park 3100 Lynch Road, Vallejo, CA, 94503
There is still time to reserve a spot on Solano Land Trust’s fourth annual July 4 night hike up to the Bay Area Ridge Trail to watch the fireworks around the North Bay.
The after-dark, guided Moooonlight and Fireworks Hike at Lynch Canyon will be about 4.5 miles total on uneven terrain, past free-ranging cattle, mostly moderately easy with a few moderately strenuous slopes. This year brings the rare spectacle of a moonrise during the fireworks shows. That won't happen again for years. (The moon will rise 91% lit, not quite full.) July 4 fireworks will not be accompanied by an after-dark moonrise again until 2023.
Hikers wishing to stay warm despite the wind chill on the ridge can pre-order American-made, glow-in-the-dark hoodies from Glowees.com, a local Vallejo business. Using coupon code JULY4 by June 25 marks the order for pickup at the Lynch Canyon trailhead on July 4.
