EAGLES, HAWKS AND OTHER BIRDS OF PREY HIKES AT LYNCH CANYON Departments - Resource Management - Parks
Location: Lynch Canyon Open Space 3100 Lynch Canyon Rd, American Canyon, Ca, 94503
Lynch Canyon is home to golden eagles and hawks. It is also a magnet for migrating and over-wintering birds of prey. It provides these raptors with over 1,000 undeveloped acres where they can hunt and rest. Some feathered visitors come from as far away as the Arctic Circle. Learn more by joining Larry Broderick and team for birds of prey hikes at Lynch Canyon on Sunday, November 8 and Saturday, December 5. Both hikes are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lynch Canyon is located at 3100 Lynch Canyon Rd., off McGary Rd., between Fairfield and Vallejo. Each hike’s cost is $10 per person (payable when registering) plus $6 per vehicle (payable at the park). Space is limited and pre-registration is recommended. Raptors pointed out on his past hikes include Golden and Bald Eagles, Rough-legged, Cooper's, Sharp-shinned and Ferruginous Hawks, Peregrine and Prairie Falcons, and other more common raptors. In addition to learning about the looks of these different species, participants will learn about the ways they fly, what they eat, where they hunt and rest, and why they migrate great distances or stay in one place all year.
Lynch Canyon is owned by Solano Land Trust and is part of the Solano County Parks system. Because it is a wilderness area and working cattle ranch, pets are not allowed.
